2009 Division II Football Championship Team Itinerary

ITINERARY - TENTATIVE

2009 DIVISION II FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2009

Arrival of the NCAA Division II Football Committee.

The Division II Football Committee will conduct a meeting a 10p.m. at the Shoals Marriott Hotel and Spa.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2009

TBA Arrival of participating teams.
(prior to 12 noon)
Time and arrival location will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009

Local dignitaries will be on hand to welcome participating teams. Each
team will obtain their own ground transportation.

12:00 NOON- KICK-OFF NEWS CONFERENCE
12:45 P.M.

Director of Athletics, head football coach and designated players of the
participating teams will meet the press. Coaches will make their remarks
about the teams and game.

The three finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy will be introduced and
presented with a plaque.

12:45 P.M.- KICK-OFF LUNCHEON
1:30 P.M.
Question & answer period following the news conference. Lunch will be
served during this time.

Guest list includes: Director of Athletics, head coach and designated
members of the two participating teams, NCAA officials, SNCC, Chamber
of Commerce, University of North Alabama representatives, dignitaries,
sponsors and their guests. Approximately 125-150 guests will be invited to
attend.

TBA PRACTICE SESSIONS

Coaches will designate time for practice.

There will be two high school stadiums available to the participating teams.

Each location will have showers, dressing rooms, and weight rooms. These fields will be available as needed.

This first practice session must be an open session, and the players and coaches must be available for interviews one-half hour before the practice.

The media should be informed when the interviews are available.

In case of inclement weather, Marriott team will practice at the Florence High School Gym.  The inclement weather practice site for the Coldwater team will be at the Deshler High School Gym/Tuscumbia Multi Purpose Center.  If inclement weather practice facilities are needed all personnel (coaches, student-athletes, etc.) will be required to wear basketball/non-marking shoes to prevent any damage to the playing floor. The UNA Practice Field will also be available and must be pre-approved by the NCAA for team to practice/times.

There will be a walkthrough and ESPN facility walkthrough (tentative) for          5:00p.m.



6:30 P.M.- “CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION”
8:30 P.M
LOCATION: Florence/Lauderdale Coliseum

Florence, Alabama

DRESS: Casual / team colors

Southern hospitality will surround the participating teams at the
championship celebration. An informal introduction and fellowship dinner
has been planned. The menu features L.O. Bishop’s Famous Hawg House
Barbecue. An evening of fun and excitement has been planned for your
enjoyment.

Players and coaches from both teams will be recognized and presented with
championship mementos.

Each institution will be provided with 70 complimentary tickets for the
official traveling party. Approximately 400 guests will attend this event.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2009

8:30 – 12:00 P.M. The participating teams will engage in a Community Service Event that may include local hospital, schools, or involvement with civic groups.

9:00 A.M. TEAM FROM LOWER BRACKET(NORTHEAST/SOUTHEAST)

10:30 A.M. TEAM FROM UPPER BRACKET(NORTHWEST/SOUTHWEST)

12:00 NOON VIP SPONSOR LUNCHEON

University of North Alabama Campus

DRESS: Casual / team colors

Guests are invited to honor the two participating teams and view the
history of the Harlon Hill Trophy and the background of the top three 2005
finalists for the award.

Guest list: Coaches, participating teams, championship ambassadors,
NCAA officals, SNCC and Chamber of Commerce representatives,
dignitaries, sponsors and their guests.

NOTE: Each participating school will be given a total of 70 tickets.

Approximately 300 guests will attend this event.

TBA PRACTICE SESSIONS

Coaches will designate time for practice.

• Team from Northwest vs. Southwest Bracket-Florence High School Football Stadium-Florence, Alabama

Inclement weather – team at Muscle Shoals location will practice at the Muscle Shoals High School Gym. Team at Florence will practice at the Florence High School Gym.

DRESS: Business

This meeting includes the head coaches, directors of athletics and sports
information directors from both schools. In addition, the SNCC game
committee, game officials, 25-second clock operator, chain crew, clock
operator, security, public address announcer, band directors for each team,
television representatives from ESPN and NCAA representatives will be in
attendance.

Transportation must be provided by each institution.

6:30 P.M. HARLON HILL AWARD & THE DIVISION II FOOTBALL
HALL OF FAME BANQUET

judged to be the best top Division II player for 2008.

This will be a time to meet the cheerleaders from the other team, hear an
encouraging word from a special guest, and last but not least, enjoy a good
old SOUTHERN STYLE BREAKFAST!

ESPN will televise the game live to a national audience.

NOTE: Post-game media press conference will be in the hospitality room
located on the West Concourse (press box side) of the stadium.

Post-game wrap up meeting will be at 5:00pm at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. This will involve the Division II Football Committee, NCAA Staff, and selected representatives of the University of North Alabama and the Shoals National Championship Committee.
