ECM has grown into the largest, most comprehensive medical facility in Northwest Alabama, South Central Tennessee and Northeast Mississippi. The 372 bed facility is the home of northwest Alabama’s only full service heart/cardiac program. Our cardiac physicians offer the latest diagnostic and medical treatments available, along with the community’s only open heart surgery suites and recovery facilities. In addition, ECM operates a complete line of women and children services, including dedicated OB/GYN and pediatric units. ECM’s 24-hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama. In addition, we offer a complete line of medical, oncology, pulmonary, ambulatory, endoscopy, laboratory and imaging services. We have over 200 physicians on staff representing over 42 specialty areas of medicine.
Helen Keller Hospital
Since 1921 Helen Keller Hospital has provided quality healthcare and maintained its status as the premier healthcare provider for the residents of Northwest Alabama. Helen Keller Hospital is a 185-bed, not-for-profit hospital that is governed by the Colbert County-Northwest Alabama Healthcare Authority, a nine-member board comprised of local citizens appointed by the Colbert County Commission. Helen Keller Hospital is committed to providing advanced healthcare to our patients, close to home. Evidence of this commitment is seen in the recent $10.4 million expansions and renovations completed at the hospital in 2005. This project expanded the Wellcare Center, added a state-of-the-art intensive care unit and cardiac catheterization lab, and updated the main lobby, cafeteria, gift shop and chapel. This commitment has continued with the most recent addition - our new Helen Keller Hospitality House, a duplex which provides lodging at low or no cost for patients traveling long distances.
