Blazers defeat Northwest Missouri State
FLORENCE, Ala. -
Michael Terry's one-yard plunge with 22 seconds remaining in the
game propelled Valdosta State to the second NCAA Division II
Football National Title in school history as the Blazers defeated
Northwest Missouri State 25-20 in front of 7,532 fans at Braly
Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The win gave Valdosta State two
championships in the last four years and made Blazer head coach
David Dean just the second first-year head coach to lead his squad
to the Division II title.
Earle Solomonson also accomplished
the feat with North Dakota State in 1985. Meanwhile, Northwest
Missouri State finished runner-up for the third straight year.
